Sweden and Ramadan

We just got back from a wonderful and very busy holiday in Sweden, three toddlers, two new teenagers, a five year old-going on 14, three tired mummies, one tired daddy and a lot of blueberries.

Alia loved picking blueberries in the forest, and would cry "bobby, bobby" when leaving, she also loved swimming in the lakes and told me today that she loves mommy, baba and abaazi ( dari for playing with water and swimming).

Last month I was at the organic fair in Valby and had such a lovely day there, passing on dolls to cute children, and talking to inspiring people passionate about an organic lifestyle. I hope to take part in another fair in Valby in September and possible also one in Vanloese the same month.

We are also enjoying Ramadan this month and it is always a month full of sweetness and time for reflection, with a toddler in tow, things are a little different, but she adds more sweetness than I could imagine :)

Post Exams Update

I am so relieved to finally be finished with this years classes, thank God ! Exams really exhaust me and take my attention away from everything else around me, which does not mix well with being a mommy of a toddler. I look forward to long calm days with Alia and I look forward to being able to make more dolls and do a lot more crafts.

I am preparing for an organic market in Copenhagen, more specifically Tingstedet in Valby on the 6th of July, it is right around the corner from where we live and I cant wait to share my dollies with Valby :)

Also a few pictures of some memorable meals that helped me get through long days of studying hard.

Coconut oatmeal balls sans sugar

Alia and I spent our afternoon making these delicious Oatmeal balls, Alia preferred eating the dough and throwing the rolled balls to actually rolling them in the coconut. I coloured the coconut in beetroot red and parsley green to make it more interesting for Alia. I grated the beetroot fine and then just mixed it with the dried, cut cocnut, and I put the parsley int the blender with another batch of coconut.

Here is a recipe and some pictures:

two-three dl of Oatmeal
three to four tbsp of virgin coconut oil
one dl of dried cut coconut
one dl of, preferably raw, chocolate powder
one teaspoon of vanilla from dried vanilla bean
add agave nectar to taste and  if needed milk or milk alternative to bind all the ingredients together.
Mix all ingredients, it is easiest to use hands, in a bowl.

Roll the balls in coconut, variegating colours. You can make lots of other colours, using natural ingredients, juice from boiled blueberries, tumeric etc...

Dancing cow day

Today is the day organic farms let their cows out to pasture and we went to Svanholm Farm to watch them dancing on the field. Lots of fun :)
